The level of scrutiny and expectations placed on Boards by shareholders and external commentators are higher than they have ever been.

We work with our clients to identify and place Chairs and Non-Executive Directors as part of their overall people and business strategy. We work with Boards to assess the their performance against the relevant corporate guidelines, governance, the performance and ambitions of the organisation and the level of alignment.

We pay particular attention to the need for appropriate diversity – whether gender, nationality or experience. In our assessment of candidates through interviewing and referencing we look for capability and character and assess the personal attributes of non-executive director candidates to ensure they will provide the right balance of support and inspiration but also rigour and challenge.

We have acted at board level for many of the ASX Top 50 and a significant percentage of the ASX 200. In addition we have found non-executive directors for international companies as well as a range of mid-cap, private and not-for profit organisations.

Strategic Succession Planning

With increased focus from shareholders and external bodies to whether value is being maintained in regards to secure leadership, the valid question posed to the Board or Executive Committee is: do you have an exemplary succession planning strategy and are you proactively de-risking the organisation?

We focus on business-critical roles that have the highest impact on strategy and value in the organisation. Our methodology concentrates on the external candidates and their cultivation as part of our client’s competitive strategy. It helps Boards and Executive Committees fully understand the leading talent in the market and provides an advanced complementary programme and head start when needed to conduct a search arises. Our approach is far more than a talent mapping exercise providing an estimated 75% improvement in candidate fit and assimilation and performance. It proactively introduces a more diverse pool of potential candidates.

Succession Planning is one of the more difficult subjects for Boards and the Executive to address. We are experts at introducing the conversation and framing the debate. We are well versed in advising on emergency situations through to well-choreographed successions.

Leadership Assessment

Our Assessment practice conducts Executive team assessments, leadership and competency gap analysis, leadership benchmarking, structured development plans and executive coaching.

Understanding the individual and collective dynamics of the leadership team is critical for Boards and Chief Executives. We work with clients to build on their existing executive development programmes through in-depth interview and assessment and if required, a structured development programme. One-to-one or team coaching can achieve rapid performance improvement. Our assessment of team and executive is benchmarked against external markets to provide our client with an appreciation of talent capability.

Where clients have particular issues around team effectiveness or organisational dynamics, we provide highly-tailored support and a programme of action; including interviews, assessment and identification of leadership and skill gaps.
